Como assim? Apesar de o produto ter a consistência de um tônico, ele tem a composição de um creme espesso.

Como isto é possível? Um creme tradicional é opaco porque é uma mistura de água e ingredientes oleosos. Como a água e óleo não se misturam naturalmente, é necessário usar algum ingrediente que torne esta mistura possível, criando uma emulsão. Emulsão é uma mistura contendo água e pequenas partículas de óleo (ou algum outro ingrediente que não se misture na água sem ajuda de algum outro, como vários silicones). Em uma emulsão “normal”, quando a luz passa através do produto, ela “bate” nas pequenas partículas de óleo, isso faz com que os cremes não sejam transparentes, e sim opacos.

Como a Shiseido está fazendo cremes transparentes e ainda por cima líquidos, então – com a mesma textura de um tônico? É aí que entra uma tecnologia mais sofisticada. Durante o processo de emulsificação é colocada uma grande pressão sobre a emulsão. Isso faz com que as partículas de óleo sejam reduzidas em 1/30 até 1/1500 do seu tamanho original! Pelo fato de as partículas de óleo ficarem muito menores, a luz atravessa quase “livremente” pela emulsão, fazendo com que o produto se torne transparente.
